Last summer the fishing in East Ranga was spectacular and the river finished the season with 9070 salmon caught.

Next month is September, still good fishing to be had!
It is not surprising that the fishing drops down a bit as we head in to the autumn but the fishing is still good with over 1100 salmon caught. We had many happy memories created in September. On average 14 rods fished the river per day giving a respectable 2.6 salmon per rod/day.
The best beat once and again was beat three with 208 salmon caught, beat three was simply the best beat overall this summer. As we head in to the autumn the upper beats 6-9 started to produce better fishing but beat one which is the lowest beat started to decline.
The majority of the catch is once and again grilse or 88% of the catch, the grilse runs this summer were phenomenal which should in turn predict a great MWS year in 2021. A few 90+ cm were caught but the majority of the larger salmon was in the 70-79 cm bracket.
