Holsa Sea Trout
6 rods & excellent self catering lodge
Great beat for a group of up to 12 people that want to enjoy fishing in a private environment. The beat is 13 km in length with plenty of space and pools for the six rods.
There has always been a healthy stock of natural sea trout in the river and we are going to nurture the stock even further by implementing mandatory release and help by releasing smolts
Sea trout river!
In the Ranga rivers and Holsa there has always been a natural stock of sea trout. Before salmon was introduced to the rivers the main species of fish was the sea trout. As the rivers are quite big and wide the sea trout has ample space to grow to a respectable size and sea trout well over 20 pounds have been caught but the median size is around the five pound mark.
In order to preserve the stock we have introduced mandatory catch and release of the sea trout, furthermore we will help the stock by releasing sea trout smolts. Recorded catch numbers of sea trout in 2020 were close to 400 but we believe a lot were caught unrecorded.
For the sea trout we sell slots both in the spring and autumn. In the autumn there is a good chance for the salmon as well but in spring this is a pure sea trout fishing experience.
Veiðihús
