Þvera in Fljotshlid

Delicate little river

Þvera in Fljotshlid is a small gin clear river perfect for light gear and delicate touch. Þvera has been quite productive throughout the years with an average catch of 400 salmon for the four rods, the total catch in 2020 was 675 salmon.

The River

The Þvera is set in a beautiful location in Fljotshlid which is a green agricultural valley. The river draws its water source from a number of small gin clear mountain creeks that flow in to the river from the Fljotshlid hill side. In the past the river used to be murky as water spilled in to it from the nearby glacial river Markarfljót. Decades ago the farmers with their foresight built restricted the spillover of glacial water resulting in the Þvera being a beautiful gin clear river perfect for the avid angler.

The Þvera has over 65 marked pools which are dived in to five beats so there is plenty of space for the four rods. The river is perfect for fly fishing with light gear but you have to approach it carefully and with respect as the salmon can be easily spooked.
