Holsa East Bank - Lower Beat
4 Rods – License Only
The Lower beat in Holsa is an exciting option as enormous amounts of salmon pass through the beat on their way to both of the Ranga Rivers. The beat is 11 kilometers in length stretching from beat number 13 all the way to the river mouth to the ocean.
Hidden gem!
The lower beat of the Holsa is a hidden gem where you can catch plenty of salmon when the runs go through the beat. Each season tens of thousands of salmon run the waters on their way up to the Ranga Rivers and Þverá. Additionally the beat has good sea trout fishing as the trout tend to stay in the lower river. The beat is long or around 11 kilometers so there is plenty of space for the four rods.
The beat has 13 marked pools but there are usually more pools to choose from as the river changes every year and sometimes there will be a new pool performing as the water has changed course and the salmon always try to run the deepest channels. As the beat can be a bit tricky for a first time angler we recommend a guide at least for the first day so you do not waste to much valuable time searching for the hot spots.
