The fishing season in Iceland has officially started with the trout fishing opening in lakes and rivers on April 1st. We are seeing reports of good starts to the season with many anglers having success in both lake trout fishing and fishing for sea trout in the rivers.
Lake Þingvallavatn is known for its ice age brown trout which can reach enormous sizes. We have heard of anglers hitting the jackpot there with fish up to 93 cm caught. I personally had the pleasure of going there in the start of the season and caught two good size trout.
